Today begins the sales tax holiday for families across our state sending their kids back to school. But, thanks to Governor McCrory and the extreme Republican legislature, this will be the final year.
We’ve got to make a stand against this assault on our working families. Can you chip in $14 for 2014 right away?
The sales tax holiday has long been heralded as a source of financial relief for middle class families working hard to put their kids through school. In fact, The North Carolina Retail Merchants Associations says shoppers save up to $14.7 million dollars in sales tax during this back to school weekend.
Governor McCrory needed to cut the sales tax holiday for working families in order to pay for major tax cuts for the wealthiest North Carolinians and out-of-state corporations.
Our working families simply cannot afford the continued financial burdens imposed by this Republican leadership.
