Dear Friends,
Representing Southeast Queens as a City Council Member over the past decade was more than just a job to me. It was a devotion to improve our community. A passion to fight on behalf of the needy. A privilege.
As my time in the City Council begins to sunset, I look back on all that we were able to accomplish. We prevented day cares from being defunded, expanded hospitals and healthcare, increased opportunities for small businesses…things that have made Queens a more desirable place to live, work, and enjoy.
These victories couldn’t have been achieved without the support of my colleagues in government – working together to solve the problems that you face in everyday life. Melinda Katz was one of those colleagues.
Melinda and I stood together as we championed senior centers. We stood together to build an unprecedented number of units of affordable housing. We stood together to ensure after-school programs are available to all students. And now, I stand with Melinda to support her candidacy for Borough President.
Melinda and I were both raised in Queens, and developed a deep love and understanding of what makes this borough so dynamic. Melinda understands that, in a borough as diverse as ours, we need a Borough President that is good-natured – someone that can build coalitions to improve the lives of the people in Queens.Melinda has proven, time and again, that she has the capacity, will, intelligence, and compassion to lead our borough.
I’m standing with Melinda Katz for Queens Borough President, and I need you to stand with us.
Yours truly,
Leroy Comrie
