WHAT ARE THE MTA'S PRIORITIES?

Dear Friends,

I'd like you to take a quick moment to watch this video about new MTA service cuts that will hit the Rockaways today:

It's hard to believe that the MTA would even consider reducing services for residents of the Rockaways – a community that has certainly suffered enough in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Adding insult to injury, this week the MTA decided to unveil a new "Cannonball" express train to the Hamptons. The MTA proudly touted that – for the first-time in history –Manhattanites would have a non-stop "dream ride" direct from Midtown to Westhampton beach. The MTA needs to get its priorities straight.

Last week, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio joined with Transport Workers Union, Local 100, State Senator James Sanders, Assembly Member Phil Goldfeder, and Council Member Donovan Richards to demand that the MTA rescind its plans to reduce shuttle bus service to the Rockaways until repairs to the A train have been completed. If the MTA can provide new service for vacationers to Long Island, it can certainly maintain the shuttle bus service working men and women need to provide for their families.

We're not going to let the MTA heap more pain on the Rockaways. Outer-borough families who need to get to work and make a living need to come first. I hope you'll join us in this effort by visiting www.SaveOurShuttle.com and helping spread the word to your friends and family.

Thanks,
