President's Lecture Series: Guns: How Do We Stop the Violence?
Bronx residents are no strangers to the killing of innocents, or to the impact of guns on the communities in which we live and work. We launch this new lecture series as an opportunity for members of the college community and beyond to have their say on the impact the proliferation of guns and gun violence has on our children and loved ones, and our community. Our lecture panelists include Geoffrey Canada, CEO, the Harlem Children's Zone and author of "Fist, Stick, Knife, Gun: A Personal History of Violence"; Gloria Cruz, founder of the Bronx chapter of New Yorkers Against Violence; Phillip Thompson, campaign manager for impacted communities and the faith community for the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence; Shafiq Abdussabur, an active law enforcement officer in Connecticut who currently serves as the Chairman/CEO of the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers,Inc.(NABLEO); other experts and special guests.
