Dear friends,
Early spring has brought a flowering of major endorsements in our City Council race. I am thrilled to have received the supportof labor powerhouse 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, whose 275,000 members work hard everyday in our hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics. I am also truly honored to have won the endorsement of 32BJ SEIU, whose president, Hector Figueroa, had this to say:
"Mark Levine is a friend of working people, and 32BJ SEIU is proud to endorse him for City Council. He understands that middle class jobs with family-sustaining wages and benefits are the backbone of the city. We look forward to partnering with Mark on issues that matter most to our members and working people: fair wages, safe working conditions, job creation and responsible development."
Our campaign also recently won support from the Progressive Caucus Alliance, which represents a group of activist Councilmembers and grassroots allies seeking to build the coalition for progressive change in the City Council. And I am thrilled that ours is one of the few races for an open seat in which the Working Families Party has made an early endorsement.
Taken together these four endorsement give our campaign tremendous momentum. But we still have a great deal of work to do in the coming months.
