Dear Lucas,
Yesterday, we learned of yet another disheartening scandal related to the corrosive influence of money on New York politics. The pay-for-play culture in Albany and at City Hall makes it harder for us to win on issues from access to health care, to workers' rights, to quality schools and more. It also casts a cynical sense of hopelessness on those of us committed to the public interest.
Many of us look on and ask what we can do to end this cycle of corruption and influence.
Well there is something you can do - today.
In conjunction with Citizen Action NY, SEIU 1199, The United Auto Workers, Community Voices Heard, the Working Families Party, and many others, I will be taking part in a community rally for fair election reform at the 1199 headquarters on West 43rd Street. Please join us and add your voice to the call for money out of politics.
