GOVERNMENT'S WORKING AGAIN?

Dear Friend,

There was great news out of Albany last week. As a result of a bipartisan agreement between Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature, the state enacted a balanced budget before the April 1st deadline. It is the third on-time budget in a row -- something that hasn't happened in Albany since 1984 -- that holds spending growth to under 2 percent and continues the fiscal discipline that has been the hallmark of the Governor's tenure in Albany.

This budget cuts taxes for middle class families and businesses and reduces the cost of doing business in our state by reforming the unemployment insurance and workers' compensation programs. It also continues to grow our economy through crucial job-creating initiatives and by investing in the economy of tomorrow. Additionally, the budget furthers the Governor's commitment to building a world-class education system by enacting critical reforms that will ensure our students are getting the education they need and deserve.

The Governor spoke directly to New Yorkers about this year's budget in a video message. Click here to watch.

Our state government is working once again: we are creating jobs, cutting taxes and leading the nation in education, civil rights and public safety reforms. This is a new New York.

Thank you for all that you do,

The Andrew Cuomo Committee
