GOT A STORY ABOUT JAMAICA BAY?

Tell Your Story At Jamaica Bay Community History Night!

April 24 from 4-7 p.m. at the Broad Channel Library

Who doesn't love a good story?

The Jamaica Bay Lives film crew, that's for sure ... that's why we are organizing a very special event later this month that we hope you will support!

On Wednesday, April 24, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Jamaica Bay Lives -- in conjunction with the Queens Library and Queens Memory Project -- will host the first ever Jamaica Bay Community History Night at the Broad Channel Library, located at 16-26 Cross Bay Boulevard, in Broad Channel, Queens (map).

It's an open house, drop-in event, where we invite the community to come in and share their experiences about life on Jamaica Bay. Whether you've got a story about a catching seven-foot-long striped bass, recollections about old landmarks that are long gone or want to share your experiences during and after Hurricane Sandy, we want to hear from you. And please bring in your old family photos, home videos, mementos ... anything that can illustrate what that bay means to you and your family.

The idea behind Jamaica Bay Community History Night is to literally open the doors for a grass-roots look at how people interact with the bay and to remind all of us that our history truly does matter. We are very proud to partner with the Queens Memory Project, and all of the interviews we conduct will be shared with the Queens Library where they will become part of Queens' collective history and made available to researchers and the public.

We'd love to have you join us for this fun and important event. To reserve your space (and schedule a time for your interview), reply to this email or contact JamaicaBayLives@gmail.com or (917) 207-8715. Please spread the word to friends and family too.

Thank you for all your help! This is going to be a great event!
