ABORN'S ASHAMED

Dear friends,

I have been fighting for reasonable gun reforms my entire adult life and I've never seen anything as horrifying and gutless as what happened in the U.S. Senate. A tiny minority killed the bi-partisan Manchin-Toomey bill to expand background checks on gun sales. The bill had the support of 54 Senators and 90% of Americans. But due to the abuse of the filibuster it's no longer enough to have majority support: we need 60 votes to get anything done.

I'm ashamed that twenty children had to die and it's not enough to break the NRA's death grip on Congress.

As the President said, we need to muster our passion and put our words into action if we're every going to beat the NRA.

There's much to be done, but for right now, start by calling the Senate switchboard to express your outrage: 202-224-3121.

We are not going away.

Sincerely,

Richard M. Aborn
