WHO'S PAYING FOR PAID SICK DAYS?

de_Blasio_banner_2012.jpgde_blasio_support_sick_days.jpgDear Friends,

While much of media spotlight is now consumed with the upcoming vote this November, there's another vote here in New York that we all should be deeply concerned about - and that we can win, right now.

A landmark bill to provide paid sick leave to more than a million New Yorkers is sitting idle in the City Council. Two-thirds of the City Council - a veto-proof majority - support this important legislation, yet a vote still has not been called. On Friday, I called on City Council Speaker Quinn and Mayor Bloomberg to immediately move forward on passing and signing into law a paid sick leave bill.

Cities like San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Seattle have led the way on paid sick leave legislation and are seeing real, positive results. It's past time for New York to act.

This Friday, I'll be speaking at Congregation Beth Elohim in Brooklyn about why my family and I support the paid sick leave bill. I encourage you to also spread the word.

If you're on Facebook, click here to share our "I Support Paid Sick Days" badge. On Twitter, you can follow the conversation by using the hashtag #paidsickdays .

Together, let's keep up the pressure to ensure a paid sick leave bill is quickly passed and signed into law.

Thank you,
Bill de Blasio
