The Samuel J. Tilden Club will hold our Supreme Court Judicial Candidates Night on Thursday, September 20th at 7:30pm. We meet at the Seafarers International House, 123 East 15th Street on the 2nd floor. Candidates will be given 5 minutes for each presentation and respond to questions from the audience. Below please find a proposed agenda for the Tilden meeting on Thursday.
Yesterday we had our first of our weekly trips to Philadelphia to canvass for the Obama/Biden campaign - the bus was at capacity, which is a great sign! For the next two weeks, Saturday buses will be heading to both Philadelphia and to Lehigh Valley. We will meet at 24 Union Square East (at 15th St., in front of Babies 'R' Us). Lehigh Valley traditionally leans Democratic but, given the economic hardship many face, voters may need some convincing. And that's where we come in! Please email me if you are interested in joining on a trip to PA.
To all of our Jewish friends in the Tilden family we wish you a very Happy New Year. L'shanah tovah!
Lastly, it is with great sadness that we express our sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to the friends and families of U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and the other American patriots, including communications officer Sean Smith and former Navy SEALs Glen A. Doherty and Tyrone S. Woods, who perished during the attacks at the American Embassy in Libya. We strongly condemn the grievous and murderous attacks on these honorable men - whether it was a planned assault or spontaneous outrage prompted by the deeply bigoted and insulting film placed on social media earlier. In his speech for the consular re-opening ceremony in Libya less than three weeks ago, Ambassador Stevens said, "Relationships between governments are important, but relationships between people are the real foundation of mutual understanding."
We hope to see everyone this Thursday.
Best,
Steven
