After Karla McLeod was injured in car accident while on her way to her job at Westchester Airport, and was denied coverage by the Worker's Compensation Board, she appealed.
The Appellate Division, Third Department, agreed that Karla wasn't entitled to any benefits because the road on which the crash occurred wasn't controlled by her employer nor was the incident directly related to her work. (According to the AD3, getting injured while commuting was "a risk [Karla] shared with the general public.")
"Sometimes you just gotta say 'what the heck.'"
