nycbar1.gifCity Bar Primary Election Evaluations

The City Bar's Judiciary Committee has evaluated the candidates running in the September 13th Democratic Party primary elections for Civil Court in Bronx County, Kings County and New York County and Surrogate's Court in New York County. Our judicial evaluations are one of the most important functions the City Bar performs. I want to make sure that you are aware of these evaluations, and so I am listing them below. The Committee uses two ratings: Approved and Not Approved. Candidates rated Approved have affirmatively demonstrated qualifications necessary for the performance of the duties of the position for which they are being considered.

The primary election is September 13th this year. The NYC Board of Elections website provides information on your polling place and the candidates running in your area: http://gis.nyc.gov/vote/ps/index.htm . Although the Association has long advocated for a merit appointment system for selecting judges, as long as we have judicial elections it is important that we all participate in that process, so I encourage you to vote.
