Dear Friends,
The beginning of the school year is just a few days away. This means new clothes, new shoes and a new backpack filled with fresh supplies. But thousands of other kids across the City begin the school year without these necessary items because some parents just don't have the money to buy the supplies their children need.
So how can you help? By donating what you can to my office's Third Annual School Supply Drive for children in need.
We will be collecting new packets of pens, pencils, backpacks, lunchboxes, binders, loose-leaf paper, folders, glue sticks, index cards, protractors, notebooks, graphing paper, rulers, calculators, markers, highlighters, crayons, watercolor paints or any other school-type product you can donate.
All supplies will go directly to students in need at local schools within the district. Any donation, big or small, will be greatly appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at my District Office on 47-01 Queens Blvd. Suite 205 Sunnyside, NY 11104 between the hours of 10-6PM (Mon-Friday) until Monday, September 10th.
For your convenience, supplies can also be dropped off at the following Queens Library branches in your neighborhood:
- Broadway, 40-20 Broadway, Long Island City, NY 11103, (718) 721-2462
- Court Square, 25-01 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City, NY 11101, (718) 937-2790
- Long Island City, 37-44 21st St., Long Island City, NY 11101, (718) 639-5228
- Sunnyside, 43-06 Greenpoint Avenue, Long Island City, NY 11104, (718) 767-8010
- Woodside, 54-22 Skillman Avenue, Woodside, NY 11377, (718) 429-4700
At the close of the drive, we will deliver the supplies collected to local school children. Thank you for helping to provide children with the necessary tools to excel in the classroom.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Van Bramer
