Lucas,
No political ads this year will say "paid for by ExxonMobil" or "brought to you by JPMorgan Chase" or "I'm Monsanto and I approve this message."
But that doesn't mean Corporate America isn't spending millions to broadcast deceptive political ads on your TV.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which accepts millions of dollars to advance the interests of massive corporations, has pledged to spend $100 million on ads attacking candidates who don't fall in line with its corporate agenda.
The U.S. Chamber refuses to disclose any of the secret funders behind its nationwide attack ad campaigns.
Help bring the U.S. Chamber's dark money into the light.
Add your name to one of the "birthday cards" we're sending to the U.S. Chamber to mark its 100th anniversary.
We'll deliver the cards at an upcoming rally outside the U.S. Chamber's headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The U.S. Chamber is Big Business' biggest lobbyist. It spends more on lobbying than any other organization, corporation or group. (1) Yet more than half of its budget is paid for by just 16 (undisclosed) multinational corporations. (2) Most local chambers of commerce are not at all affiliated with the U.S. Chamber. (3)
Priority number one for the U.S. Chamber's inner circle of CEOs is making sure that the dark money they (and groups like Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS) get from corporations stays secret.
The U.S. Chamber actively lobbies against commonsense transparency and accountability measures such as the DISCLOSE Act and the Shareholder Protection Act, and is sure to fight tooth and nail against a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.
Let's make sure the public knows what the U.S. Chamber is really about.
Send a "birthday" message to the U.S. Chamber TODAY.
Then forward this message to five friends, neighbors, colleagues and family members.
Thanks for all you do,
Rick Claypool
