Dear Friends,
When the laws on the books aren't enough to protect people, we have to make them tougher.
Every day in New York, innocent straphangers - especially women - are subjected to unwanted advances and sexual contact on the subways and buses. When these sexual predators are caught, a loophole in our current law makes it nearly impossible for prosecutors to bring serious charges.
> Demand tougher penalties for sex offenders
On Saturday, I joined State Senator Diane Savino and Assemblyman Michael Cusick in taking the first
step to close this loophole by announcing new State legislation that would lead to felony charges and jail time for offenders found guilty of initiating unwanted sexual contact [ video ].
It doesn't matter your age or gender, we all must take a zero tolerance approach to sexual harassment and assault. Click
here to add your name to the list of New Yorkers demanding tougher penalties
for sex offenders and please help spread the word on Facebook and Twitter .
Thank you,
