LAWYERS FOR SCHNEIDERMAN

I hope you're well. I'm writing to let you know about the upcoming Lawyers for Schneiderman breakfast in support of Attorney General Eric Schneiderman at the Harvard Club on October 12.

This is the first Lawyers for Schneiderman event since the attorney general assumed office and a terrific opportunity to show your support for his leadership--for his bold and innovative reform efforts, and for his steadfast commitment to civil rights and equal protection under the law. Individual tickets start at $500 for partners and $250 for associates; we also hope you or your firm will consider purchasing several seats or a full table (details can be found on the online sign-up page here or the printable sign-up form here ).

We hope you'll be able to make it and we would greatly appreciate your support! I've included the invitation and a brief bio of the attorney general below. Please let me know what you think, and I look forward to speaking with you soon. Thank you!

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has proven himself a steadfast champion of progressive causes since his days as a lawmaker, when he led the fight to end the draconian Rockefeller Drug Laws and supported the passage of marriage equality legislation. With nearly two years under his belt as attorney general, he has vigorously pursued far-ranging reform efforts that have gained him widespread recognition. Last month, he achieved a key legislative victory when the state legislature unanimously passed a bill to overhaul the state's prescription-tracking system to prevent addicts and others from going from doctor to doctor, pharmacy to pharmacy to stockpile narcotics. Last year, he filed a legal challenge to the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA); if successful, this action would help compel the federal government to recognize all New York State marriages. He also sued federal regulators to force a health and environmental impact assessment of proposed gas drilling in the Delaware River Basin. Just this past January, Eric's leading role in the nationwide investigation of misconduct in the mortgage industry led President Obama to appoint him co-chair of the Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities Working Group.
