Dear Lucas,
What if I told you virtually every political group you support and respect is lining up to support a woman whose name you can't pronounce?
Her name is Cecilia Tkaczyk (think "KAH-chick"), and I'd like you to join me on October 22nd and meet her.
In this year's redistricting, Albany's ruling Republicans played fast and loose with the law to create an extra Senate District upstate and pad the ranks of their narrow majority. This district was custom-tailored for George Amedore, an extremely conservative Republican serving in the state Assembly, whose only selling point is his ability to self-fund his campaign.
But Emily's List, Eleanor's Legacy, Planned Parenthood, the League of Conservation Voters, a small army of education advocates, and my No Bad Apples PAC have all caught on to something that the Albany pundits and the conservatives have missed -- Cecilia's going to win.
This district may have been drawn for Amedore, a well-known local businessman and serving Assemblyman, but it's a classic rural swing district with a narrow Democratic enrollment edge. And Cecilia -- CeCe to her friends -- is a much better match for it: she's a family farmer and a former school board president well-versed in state-level policy, who can hit the ground running to deliver for the rural communities and small cities of the upper Hudson Valley and the Capital Region.
Thanks for everything you do,
Liz Krueger
