HOW ARE THEM GOOD APPLES DOING?

No Bad Apples PAC

Dear Lucas,

October is here -- the leaves are starting to fall, the mailers are starting to hit mailboxes, and our No Bad Apples candidates are on the front lines of the battle to retake the State Senate and reform New York State government.

Thanks to our help -- and thanks to your help -- all four of our candidates are on the right track!

  • Justin Wagner and Cecilia Tkaczyk won  their write-in primaries for the Green Party nomination, giving them both a third party line on the November ballot, putting them on an even footing with their Republican opponents and sending a clear message that they are the right choice for environmentally-conscious voters this year.
  • George Latimer received the endorsement of Mayor Ed Koch , who has put a huge effort into into fighting for good-government reforms in Albany over the past two years, and pressed his opponent to stop dodging debates . The contrast with his opponent, Bob Cohen, couldn't be clearer: Cohen, a wealthy newcomer handpicked to run by Albany Republican insiders, spent all summer trying buy the election with a mountain of negative mail smearing George.
  • Fresh off her landslide victory in the Democratic primary, Bridget Fleming is giving 36-year incumbent Republican Ken LaValle his first real challenge in recent memory.

It's thrilling to see all four of our campaigns shifting into high gear now that October is here and seeing that our No Bad Apples candidates have expanded the playing field, giving the establishment Republicans hard fights where they didn't expect to have them. Nowhere is this more evident than in Cecilia Tkaczyk's upstate district: the Republicans who controlled redistricting cynically created that district as an insurance policy -- but they didn't factor Cecilia Tkaczyk into their calculations, and that insurance policy is now a huge liability.

We have a lot of work to do in the next month -- but I'm excited for Election Day.

Thanks so much for your support,

Liz Krueger
