Lucas,
As the effects of climate change -- from record heat waves to increasingly powerful storms, crushing droughts to unprecedented flooding -- become more apparent, the silence on addressing climate change has become more deafening.
The silence needs to be broken.
Demand that the presidential candidates tell Americans how they plan to address the climate crisis if elected.
Too many years have been wasted entertaining an unnecessary debate -- fueled by the fossil fuel industry's climate denial tactics -- about the realities of climate change.
Our presidential candidates don't need to debate whether climate change is happening. They need to tell us what they are going to do about it.
Public Citizen and our partners have built a special website, Climate Silence, which is calling on the candidates to tell the American people how they will address climate change if elected.
Sign the petition to demand Obama and Romney share their plans on climate change.
The fossil fuel industry has devoted massive resources to maintaining our dirty energy -- status quo. Industry -- funded efforts to mislead the public on climate change and influence our decision--makers have resulted in an unsettling silence on one of the most important issues facing our global community.
We may not be able to outspend the Big Polluters, but we can act collectively to remove the political tape from the mouths of our decision--makers.
Over the next five weeks, Public Citizen and our allies will be challenging candidates to make climate change a top priority. We are going to need your help.
Sign our petition to join our campaign to break the climate silence.
Thanks for all you do.
Sincerely,
Allison Fisher
