Dear Friends,
As we recover from Sandy, many people have asked how they can help. Yorkville Common Pantry, right here in our neighborhood, is looking for volunteers to assist with YCP’s Emergency Food Relief Project that will bring ready to eat meals to hard hit communities, like Far Rockaway and Staten Island, in the coming week.
Yorkville Common Pantry (located at 8 East 109th Street at Fifth Avenue) is asking for twenty-five volunteers on Tuesday (November 6th) from 10:30am-2:30pm to make brown bag meals to be provided to people in the communities most affected.
If you are unable to help on Tuesday, Yorkville Common Pantry is asking for people to make brown-bag meals off-site that can be brought to 8 East 109th Street. Each brown bag meal should consist of two deli sandwiches individually sealed (ziplock preferred), a snack item, such as granola bars, and a juice box. These brown bag meals can be delivered beginning Monday, November 5th through Thursday, November 8th.
If you would like to help on Tuesday or are able to make brown bag meals throughout the week, please contact Jen Winter at jwinter@ycp.org.
If you can’t volunteer on any of those days and you are in a position to donate, please consider doing so at this time by clicking here.
During this time of recovery, your help and generosity are much appreciated. Thank you and stay safe.
Best,
Micah Kellner
