STEVE BUSCEMI IS STANDING WITH BILL

Dear Lucas,

I’m writing to invite you to join me at an event in support of my friend, Bill de Blasio, on December 10th.

I got to know Bill when we fought side-by-side against the city’s misguided efforts to close firehouses across New York a decade ago. As a former FDNY firefighter, keeping those firehouses open was an issue close to my heart, and I was moved by Bill’s courage and deep personal commitment to our cause.

Just last week, I joined Bill to survey the immense storm damage in Breezy Point. I watched Bill listen to residents who had lost their homes — as he asked them exactly what they needed from our city government, and as he fought behind the scenes, without the TV news cameras around, to get those New Yorkers the services they urgently required as quickly as possible.

I’ve come to see that Bill’s advocacy for those of us who live in the outer boroughs runs deep, and his experience with grassroots organizing and mobilization is exactly the kind of leadership New York needs.

He’s the kind of guy who links arms with neighbors, knocks on doors with volunteers, and makes sure he’s on the ground, listening to the real problems that face our communities — which is why he knows the needs of so many New York neighborhoods situated far from the bright lights downtown.

I hope you’ll join us on December 10th to honor one of our city’s most compelling, progressive public servants.

To RSVP and buy your ticket, please contact Rafi Jafri at rafijafri@gmail.com or call (917) 975-8565.

Thanks,

Steve
