The blackouts caused by Hurricane Sandy have stranded many New Yorkers, particularly seniors and those with disabilities. Today, we will continue door to door efforts in high-rise buildings without electricity to help those in need of food, water, medicine, and other important services or supplies.
If you can, please join me at 1PM at Baruch Houses, which is located at 72 Columbia Street (between Houston and Delancey Streets.) Please call or text Taina Prado at 917-328-1976 if you plan to join us. Cell service downtown is spotty, so please be patient if you can't get through right away.
Be prepared to climb flights of stairs. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a flashlight and water for your own personal consumption. If you have spare D batteries, please bring them too.
