LIU STATEMENT ON ATTACK
OUTSIDE QUEENS MOSQUE
*****************************************
NEW YORK, N.Y. – City Comptroller John C. Liu stated the following on Sunday's attack outside a Queens mosque:
"Hate has no place in New York City, and the stabbing of Bashir Ahmad outside a Queens mosque is horrifying. New York is a city that welcomes all faiths, and our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Ahmad, his family, and the Muslim community. Unfortunately, when Muslims are singled out for profiling, surveillance, and other discriminatory actions, hate crimes such as this are more likely. Anyone with information about this vicious attack should contact the NYPD immediately."
