Friends,
This past Tuesday, I had the honor of being re-elected to Congress in New York's new 10th Congressional District. I want to thank you personally for everything you have done to help us achieve this and so many other great victories. It's an honor and a privilege to represent Manhattan and Brooklyn in Congress, and the support of friends like you makes it a pleasure.
It has been an election cycle for the history books, and we should be very proud. With your help, Democrats re-elected President Obama, strengthened Democratic control of the Senate, and are poised to make gains in the House of Representatives and retake control of the New York State Senate. Marriage equality initiatives were approved in Maine, Maryland, and Washington, and we are getting closer and closer to securing equal rights for ALL Americans.
Thank you to everyone who supported progressive incumbents, candidates and initiatives with your vote, your financial contributions, your time, and your hard work.
As we move past this election, we must remember that there is still much left to accomplish. We must continue the national economic recovery and support President Obama in passing common-sense bills that help the middle class, safeguard Social Security and Medicare, and defend the rights of women.
But, for now, congratulations and thank you to everyone who helped make this Election Day a great success.
Best,
Jerry
