Friends,
The past week has been devastating for victims of Hurricane Sandy. In the aftermath of the storm, I've been amazed by the thousands of citizens coming to the aid of fellow New Yorkers. We owe extreme gratitude to the first responders working tirelessly to save lives and restore power to the city. Our sincerest appreciation goes to those who have extended their homes and resources to people in need. The resilience of New York and its residents at times like this makes me proud.
If you'd like to volunteer your time or donate goods, please visit NYC Service to explore options and sign up.
To donate to the Red Cross, visit www.redcross.org, call 800-Red-Cross, or text the word "Redcross" to 90999 to make a $10 donation. All of your donations to the Red Cross will provide shelter and other support to people who have been directly affected by the Hurricane.
As New York continues to recover, we need to momentarily turn our attention to the upcoming elections. Due to the storm's aftermath, your poll site location may have changed. Before you vote, please check the NYC Board of Elections poll-site locator, call (212) 868-3692, or text NYCVOTES to 877-877.
If you're interested in Election Day volunteering, to help Get Out The Vote for great candidates like Mark Murphy running for Congress, please reply to this email or contact my office at (212) 352-0370. There are opportunities to phone bank, canvass, poll watch, and more. We need your help to re-elect President Obama and give him the Democratic support he needs in Congress.
Thank you,
Jerry
