LIU STATEMENT ON CONTINUED POWER OUTAGES

NEW YORK, NY – City Comptroller John C. Liu said the following about ConEd's hurricane update, after spending part of the day assisting storm victims in the Rockaways:
"ConEd says that it has restored power to nearly 84% of its customers affected by SuperStorm Sandy, but that's not how it feels on the streets of the Rockaways. The utility needs to redouble its efforts to get power back on line before the weekend, when it promised to have power fully restored. New Yorkers are keenly watching ConEd, which last summer locked out its workers in a contract dispute. We demand that ConEd work at full speed."
