 Lucas - President Obama's announcement supporting marriage equality was historic, but we know the Republicans will try to use it to defeat him. More than 50,000 of you signed our petition standing with him. But we know it's going to take more than petition signatures to protect President Obama and Congress from the Republicans who march in lockstep.
I was especially proud of our president. But we have to make sure it isn't all for naught.

Today is an historic day in America. This afternoon, President Obama announced his support for marriage equality for all Americans.
I am standing with the President and I hope you will, too. As a result of taking this stand, President Obama will face attacks from every corner of the Republican Party. Everyone from Mitt Romney to the tea partiers will unite behind this issue to try to end his presidency.
That's why it is so important that we stand with the President now . We must ensure the basic rights of all Americans are protected, and ensure that the accomplishments that we've fought so hard to achieve already will not be overturned by a Republican president and Congress.
