The incumbent provides assistance to the Recovery Office, state, and project grant applicants for project environmental and historic preservation (EHP) screening, scoping, reviews, interagency regulatory consultations, compliance, public outreach, and technical assistance for Individual Assistance (IA), Public Assistance (PA), Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA), and other FEMA program projects under multiple Presidentially-declared disaster/emergencies and Congressional special appropriations for the Gulf Coast Recovery efforts. To learn more about what FEMA does visit href=http://www.fema.gov/about/index.shtm#0 How You Can Lead the Way This executive level position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Protection and National Preparedness, National Preparedness Directorate, National Training, Education and Exercise Division, Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP). The CDP is a Federal training center providing State, local, and tribal emergency responders, and, when appropriate, responders representing the federal government, foreign governments, and private entities, with a selection of over 30 courses in advanced hands-on training. The CDP delivers training including resident, non-resident, and indirect (Train-the-Trainer) course offerings; more than 10,000 of those students are trained in residence annually at the CDP facility. The CDP is the only non-military training activity authorized to use chemical and biological warfare agents and is the only Congressionally-chartered weapons of mass destruction (WMD) training center. The CDP operates under provisions articulated the Chemical Weapons Convention Treaty. The CDP offers a multi-faceted curriculum department staffed with technical writers, evaluation specialists, graphic artists, editors, technology integration specialists, and publication/design technicians. CDP specialized programs include: Chemical Surety - Some courses at the CDP include training at the Chemical, Ordnance, Biological, Radiological Training Facility (COBRA-TF) which uses chemical warfare agents (GB and VX) and biological agents Bachillus Anthracis delta Stern and Ricin A-Chain during training. Comprehensive Health Care Curriculum Some courses at the CDP include training at the Noble Training Facility (NTF), which addresses training needs identified by the health care response community in the areas of disaster medicine, mass casualty management, medical surge, pandemic, and public and environmental health. CDP is located in Anniston, Alabama. In June 1998, the CDP opened its doors as a training center for the nations emergency responders. On March 31, 2007, the NTF was integrated into the CDP training center. The CDP is part of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC). The mission of the NDPC is to enhance the preparedness of federal, state, local, and tribal emergency responders/first receivers and teams, including non-governmental organizations and the private sector, to reduce the Nations vulnerability to incidents involving weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, and all-hazard high-consequence events by developing, delivering, and assessing plans, training, technical assistance, and exercises. Responders from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and all U.S. territories have trained at the CDP. The scope of training includes preparedness, prevention, response, recovery, and mitigation.
