taxi_limousine_commission_logo_nyreblog_com_.jpgBeginning today ( Tuesday, May 29, 2012 ), the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) will accept requests for appointments from qualified applicants to file applications for the following licenses:

  • Street Hail Livery Base License Endorsement (also known as boro taxi base license)
  • Street Hail Livery Permits (also known as a Boro Taxi license)
  • Technology System Provider Licenses 

Anyone interested in applying for any of these licenses/permits should go to the following web page:  http://www.nyc.gov/html/tlc/html/shl/shl.shtml . It contains links to checklists, reference guides, eligibility requirements, and the application forms necessary for purchasing the licenses/permits listed above.

The information available on our Web site contains complete instructions and guides that will help you to navigate the application process. Application packages are also available at the TLC's Licensing offices in Queens and Staten Island. Additionally, TLC staff will be available to answer your questions about the application process, and available financing, at information fairs planned for all five boroughs. You are encouraged to attend one or more of these fairs:

  1. Queens:  June 7  at Elmhurst Hospital,  6-8 p.m.

  2. Bronx:  June 11  at Lincoln Hospital,  6-8 p.m.
    Location:  234 East 149th Street, New York, NY 10451

  3. Brooklyn:  June 19  at Woodhull Hospital,  6-8 p.m.
    Location:  760 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11206

  4. Northern Manhattan:  June 25  at Isabella Center,  6-8 p.m.
    Location:  515 Audubon Avenue, New York, NY 10040

  5. Staten Island:  July 12  at Greenbelt Recreation Ctr,  6-8 p.m.
    Location:  501 Brielle Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314

Please be aware that you need an appointment to file your application. Walk-ins will not be accepted. You MUST bring a fully completed application and all required documents with you to your appointment. Please read all instructions and requirements carefully.

If you want to request an appointment by phone, you can call 311, and their operators will assist you in submitting your appointment request. You are strongly encouraged to go online to the TLC web page listed above to request your appointment. If you do not have access to the internet, you can call 311 starting today ( May 29th).  In order for a 311 representative to assist with submitting your appointment request, you must provide your TLC License Number and an email address.
