VolunteerMay - August

Citywide

Learn how to care for a young forest this summer! Natural Area Volunteers and MillionTreesNYC seek dedicated volunteers to join our Reforestation Stewardship volunteer program and care for newly planted trees at these parks:
  • Pelham Bay Park, Bronx
  • Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx
  • Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn
  • Marine Park, Brooklyn
  • Alley Pond Park, Queens
  • Clove Lakes Park, Staten Island
Stewards complete two free training sessions at one of these parks to learn how to identify and remove invasive weeds that threaten the health of young trees. NYC Parks Department will provide all tools and training materials.  After completing the training sequence, stewards are asked to volunteer 12 hours in a park near them, in the company of other volunteers.  A third session for dedicated volunteers will be offered later in the summer.  Visit the NAV website or email NAV@parks.nyc.gov to sign up for the training to become a dedicated reforestation volunteer at a park near you!
