The City Bar Entertainment Committee, of which I am the Chair, will present the Blue Hill Troupe next week on Friday evening, March 9th, at 7pm, at the City Bar, 42 West 44th Street, in the meeting hall, in a semi-staged performance of the one-act G&S operetta, Trial By Jury. I am in this performance as I sing with the Blue Hill Troupe.
The opera runs only about 35 minutes, beginning to end, so don't be late!
The opera is a satire about lawyers, clients and judges, and portrays a breach of promise to marry lawsuit. I don't know how Gilbert, who was a lawyer, could have written lyrics in the 1870s which are still so brilliant and wicked today, except to say I guess nothing has changed? We have performed this operetta several times over the last few weeks, including at the Harvard Club, the Colony Club and the Browning School, to great reviews (verbal, or I would attach them). The Blue Hill Troupe and audience members will head to Figaro, 26 West 44th Street, after the show, and all are welcome.
We are expecting a large crowd for the City Bar performance, and hope you can attend as well. Event Detail is below.

Friday Evening Gilbert & Sullivan
Friday, March 9, 2012 7:00 pm-8:00 pm
There is no charge for this program.
Trial By Jury, a satire about due process and the law, is a one-act operetta about a breach of promise to marry lawsuit. Although the would-be groom has fallen out of love, the jilted bride's charms prove irresistible to the judge and jury. The well known Blue Hill Troupe supports local charities through its highly acclaimed annual productions of Gilbert & Sullivan operettas and musicals.
