Rachel Aronowitz sued Sovereign Bank because she thought she hadn't been given full credit for a deposit.
Of the $2,605.14 listed on her receipt, Sovereign claimed $972.32--a sum Aronowitz supposedly remitted in cash--was never deposited.
While a deposit slip is usually an accurate record of a transaction, since there was no indication that a cash deposit had been made, and a witness for the bank testified that only checks had been tendered, both the Kings County Civil Court and the Appellate Term, Second Department, refused to hold the bank liable for the difference.
That was some slip-up.
