Summer is the prime time for thunderstorms and lightning in New York City. This week is Lightning Safety Week, and OEM urges New Yorkers to learn how to stay safe during thunderstorms. More than 400 Americans are struck by lightning each year. If you are outside and hear thunder, head indoors. Lightning can strike up to 10 miles away from where it's raining, so remember to stay up to date with the latest storm reports in your area.
