See below statement on DoITT's plans for the 911 call system upgrade - or Emergency Communications Transformation Program
Attributable to a spokesman for City Comptroller John Liu:
"We are pleased that DoITT has complied with our recommendation to engage strong oversight and expertise over the mismanaged ECTP project. However, it's difficult to comprehend that City Hall would fork over more taxpayer dollars to the contractor that failed to deliver the project in the first place and at this point, should be repaying the City's taxpayers up to $163 million."
Note: Today's City Record includes a solicitation which indicates that DoITT wishes to extend the current contract with Hewlett Packard as lead vendor on Phase 1 of ECTP. This comes after Comptroller Liu's auditors found that HP had overbilled the City by as much as $163 million, and failed to deliver what the vendor had promised. As a result, Liu's findings have been referred to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office for review.
DoITT is slated to meet with representatives of the Comptroller's office today to discuss the Hewlett Packard contract.
