James Morris Pedowitz, beloved father of David Pedowitz passed away earlier today. The funeral will be on Sunday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. at I J Morris Funeral Home 46 Greenwich Street, Hempstead, NY Phone (516)486-2500 Internment will be at Wellwood Cemetery.
David will sit shiva on Monday January 30 (calls of condolence from 2-8 pm) at the home of his parents Mary and James Pedowitz 200 Dickson Circle East Williston, NY.
David will be returning to the community and will sit the balance of shiva at his and Faith's home 194 Baldwin Road Bedford Corners, NY Tuesday January 31, Wednesday February 1st, Thursday February 2nd from 5-8:30pm. Shiva minyanim at the Pedowitz home at 7:30 pm each evening
May the family be comforted among those who mourn Zion and Jerusalem.

JAMES M. PEDOWITZ
PEDOWITZ--James M., 96, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2012 at his East Williston home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was educated at New York University where he graduated from the Law School in 1938. He served in the Army in WWII. Shortly before the Normandy invasion, he met his loving and devoted wife Mary. They were married in London on July 22, 1945. When the War ended he was a Major, and remained in the Reserves for 25 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a renowned Real Estate Attorney who had a special expertise in Real Estate Title law. His text entitled "Real Estate Titles" is considered the definitive writing on this subject. He served as Chief Counsel of the Title Guarantee Company, was a Partner at Marshall, Bratter, Greene, Allison & Tucker and later served as Special Counsel at Rosenman & Colin. In his 72nd year he was asked to teach real estate law courses on a full time basis as a Visiting Professor at St. John's University Law School, where he taught until he was 78. He then joined Berkman, Henock, Peterson & Peddy, where his nephew Steven Peddy was a named Partner, and continued to practice until his recent illness in November. He served as President of the Nassau County Bar Association, and was an Officer and served as Chairman of the Real Property Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. He received numerous professional awards-most notably, the Real Property Section's first Award for Professionalism in 2001. He is survived by his wife Mary and his three children and their spouses: Larry Pedowitz and his wife Kathleen; Dinah Einhorn and her husband Robert; and David Pedowitz and his wife Faith, as well as eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his brother Leonard Peddy and his wife Corinne and his sister Blossom Finkelstein, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at I.J. Morris, 46 Greenwich Street, Hempstead, New York at 11am, Sunday. Interment to follow at Wellwood Cemetery. Please visit: ijmorrishempstead.com to leave condolences for the family.
