The 2012 NYSBA High School Mock Trial Tournament is underway. The Justice Resource Center, NYC coordinator of this premier law-related competition, is currently recruiting volunteer attorney-coaches and judges for the competition.
To participate as a volunteer attorney-coach: Please see the application form for attorney-coaches . Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to share your legal expertise with young people and educators!
The role of the attorney-coach is to partner with a teacher and his/her Mock Trial students to prepare the students for their rounds of competition. Volunteer attorneys admitted to the New York State Bar for two or more years receive three CLE credits for their work. Most Mock Trial teams meet once (or more, depending on availability) per week at the end of the school day. The complete Mock Trial Tournament materials are available upon request.
To participate as a volunteer judge: Please see the application form for judges for complete details. If you are available and interested in serving as a Mock Trial Tournament judge, please complete and submit the form at your earliest convenience. Also, please refer this invitation to any interested colleagues.
Volunteer judges who are members in good standing of the New York State Bar Association and are also admitted to the New York State Bar for at least two years are eligible for 3 CLE credits for their service. Past volunteers can receive CLE credits once every two years for their service in the Mock Trial Tournament. Please visit the NYSBA membership page if you have questions regarding your membership status with NYSBA. Please also refer to the guidelines for CLE credit for the Mock Trial Tournament.
We will offer an orientation session for judges before the beginning of the competition. More information to follow.
