aba_logo_nyreblog_com_.gifThe ABA Law Student Division's 2nd Circuit, which consists of ABA-approved law schools in the state of New York, will sponsor its Spring Meeting on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at New York University School of Law. If you are available, we hope that you can help us by volunteering to meet with law students or participate on a panel during one of the following sessions.

Panel Discussion: Life Should I hang Out My Own Shingle (10:45am-11:45am)
Offer guidance and advice to law students contemplating the possibility of starting their own law practice. Discuss what students should consider when formulating their strategy and setting a time line for achieving their goal. Give students an insiders' view of the administrative side of practicing law, including such tasks as managing files, billing, and client development. We are looking for 2 solo and 2 small firm attorneys (under 5 lawyers) for this panel.

Roundtables: Lunch with Experience (12:00 Noon-1:30pm)
Discuss the legal profession with law students and share your insights about adjusting and thriving in the profession. Share lunch and conversation with students at your table about what is really relevant from the law school experience and how they may wish to refine their career expectations to meet the changing demands in the legal job market. We are looking for 8-10 attorneys from diverse practice settings. Attorneys who have chosen to use their degree to pursue non-traditional career paths are encouraged to volunteer for this session.making these adjustments and explain to law students how the social skills acquired while in law school can prove particularly beneficial during this time. Help student understand how to use the basic legal skills the acquired in law school to successfully navigate and survive this sometimes difficult transitional period. We are looking for 2-3 attorneys who have graduated law school within the last 5 years.

Share your experiences making these adjustments and explain to law students how the social skills acquired while in law school can prove particularly beneficial during this time. Help student understand how to use the basic legal skills the acquired in law school to successfully navigate and survive this sometimes difficult transitional period. We are looking for 2-3 attorneys who have graduated law school within the last 5 years.
