Dear Friends,
I write today to wish you Happy Holidays.
But I know that, like many of you, I celebrate with a heavy heart.
This year, our hearts and prayers are with the families of the 27 innocent children and adults who were tragically killed on December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut.
However, while we mourn, we do not mourn in vain. I will continue to fight for measures that protect not only New Yorkers, but people everywhere, from gun violence. Last night I marched across the Brooklyn Bridge with hundreds of people to demand not only changes in gun control, but also reinvestment in urban areas across the country. To read my statement regarding my efforts towards this and and my urging of State and Federal legislators to act swiftly on gun control measures, click here.
Again, wishing you and your family a safe and blessed holiday,
