I am writing to you today because I wanted you to be among the first to know that I am officially running for New York City Council in my home district in Brooklyn.
Together, we have helped build a stronger, more efficient and more equitable society for the people of New York City. I am truly proud of everything we have accomplished, and thankful for the encouragement and support you have shown me over the years. I am running for office to put my experience and dedication to work for the people of the 47th District. We have much more work to do, but working together, as a community, I believe that we can meet any challenge.

My decade in public service has given me a unique view into what needs to be fixed in our government, and - most importantly - how to make things happen.
As an Official Envoy for the Speaker of the New York City Council, and a member of the joint City, State and Federal Agencies task force, my team provided relief efforts to over 100,000 residents of Coney Island, Brighton Beach, Sheepshead Bay and Gerritsen Beach impacted by Superstorm Sandy. I personally oversaw relief efforts in Coney Island. In those crucial days following Sandy, we delivered over 150,000 meals and bottled water to people who were in need of immediate assistance.
During the past decade, I have been honored to serve as an assistant to the last three Speakers of the New York City Council. For the last two years, by serving as legislative budget analyst for the Finance Division of New York City Council, I was privileged to have had the opportunity to get an in-depth view and learn the inner workings of New York City's $68 billion annual budget.
I hope that I can count on your strong and early support - it will make all the difference at this crucial phase in the race. I look forward to speaking with you to hear your thoughts and suggestions, and to talk about how you can get more involved. We need you on our team!
