Dear Friends,
This week, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio launched the next phase of his ongoing campaign to assist neighborhood businesses impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
The initiative, called Bounce Back NYC, is a dynamic partnership with the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Alliance and a team of others to provide small businesses in the hardest-hit parts of our city with
more promotion,
more customers and
more resources to help them back on their feet.

It's been more than 6 weeks since Hurricane Sandy hit our shores and although much of our City is now "back to normal," thousands of small businesses face a very different reality. A walk through Coney Island, the Rockaways or South Street Seaport reveals a somber story of incredible damage and economic loss. Fortunately, we have the power to help these businesses recover: one purchase at the time.
Here's three things that you can do right now:
- Use the interactive map at BounceBackNYC.com to find a location for your holiday party
- Sign up to help go door-to-door to assist small businesses in areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy
- Download a directory of businesses to help guide your holiday shopping
I encourage you to forward this email to friends and colleagues to help spread the word. In addition, if someone you know runs a small business that was impacted by Hurricane Sandy, you can have them to call our Small Business hotline at 212-669-4691 for help.
Together, let's rebuild stronger than ever.
Best,
Jeff S. Merritt
