SUPREME COURT INDEPENDENT SCREENING PANEL
It is with distinct pleasure that we announce the members of the New York County
Democratic Committee Independent Supreme Court Judicial Screening Panel.
The
members of the Panel have been reviewing the applications of several Supreme
Court hopefuls for three weeks and are expected to report the names of they find
"most highly qualified" on August 28th.
In the interest of maintaining the
legacy of excellence which the New York County Independent Screening Panel has
achieved it is our firm belief that all deliberate speed has been taken to
ensure the most accurate information is made available to the general public.
The members of the New York County Judiciary Committee, charged with convening
the screening panels, have all been informed of the Panel composition.
Additionally, all Panel members have been informed and agreed to being publicly
listed as participants and do not seek to hide their identities. The
unauthorized disclosure of confidential information in recent years has prompted
the Judiciary Committee to take a firm position against any such activity.
The
Committee advises all applicants and their respective supporters to act with
caution and integrity in their pursuit of a successful candidacy. County Leader
Keith L. T. Wright has strongly supported the legacy of the New York County
screening process and contrary to speculation, has never sought to diminish its
integrity. He has led the County in its efforts of to maintain a diverse
judiciary of the highest caliber and will support the Judiciary Committee and
each screening panel to that end.
