On Wednesday, August 1, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined area residents and elected officials at a rally outside the former Key Food on Prospect Avenue to call on Walgreens to provide the community with access to a full service provider of fresh food and groceries.

"The strong turnout at today's rally shows once again the unity of Windsor Terrace residents in convincing Walgreens of the absolute necessity that accommodations be made to provide a full service food market at the site of the former Key Food. Thousands of concerned residents have signed a petition, started a website and have made their intentions clear they will boycott Walgreens if the national drug chain doesn't show their community some respect. Walgreens, you have heard us loud and clear and you know exactly what we want. So, either step up--or step out!"
