Web conference attendees will be introduced to income tax rules for members of the United States Armed Forces. Service persons, their professional advisers and Extension Agents will benefit from examples that illustrate the application of income tax rules to the circumstances of the service person. An opportunity to ask questions will be provided via a chat box.

Presenter Guido van der Hoeven is an Extension Specialist/Senior Lecturer, for the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Guido's extension responsibilities include: income taxation of individuals and business entities, machinery economics, and farm business management and the profitable continuation of "family firms" to succeeding generations. Recent focus has been on gaining an understanding of global implications of a shrinking agricultural production world but a growing world of product demand.

Van der Hoeven is President of the Land Grant University Tax Education Foundation, Inc. which publishes a ~700 page text for income tax training of professional tax practitioners. He has instructed in the annual 2-day intermediate income tax school as well as in several 8-hour agricultural tax programs across North Carolina. Van der Hoeven has written and presented an 8-hour introductory income tax program in North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Vermont and Massachusetts, a program that has been presented by others in Alabama, Kentucky and Minnesota. Van der Hoeven has further extension responsibilities in areas of agricultural finance, retirement and estate planning, and general farm management topics.
