IT'S ABOUT REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS

Quart_women's_reproductive_rights_041112_Page_1.jpgESDC Members and Friends--

Assembly Member Dan Quart asked me to invite you to a panel discussion on reproductive rights. Assembly Member Quart will moderate a panel with distinguished lawyers and policy experts to examine the current state of reproductive freedom, the necessity for a statute affirmatively protecting these liberties in New York State and the policy details that shape these debates.

Speakers include:

Melissa Goodman is a senior litigation and policy counsel at the New York Civil Liberties Union, where she conducts and coordinates litigation, policy, and advocacy work on LGBT and reproductive rights issues. She also serves as the Vice-President of the Positive Health Project, whose mission is to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS through prevention services.

Caitlin Borgman is a professor at the CUNY School of Law. Her most recently published work is entitled What the Mississippi Personhood Amendment Tells Us About "Life" which deconstructs the movement to codify life as beginning at conception. Her blog, Reproductive Rights Prof Blog, is a resource for fellow professors uniquely dedicated to the legal and academic implications of reproductive policies.

Co-sponsored by:
U.S. Representative Carolyn Maloney
State Senator Liz Krueger
State Senator José Serrano
Assembly Member Micah Kellner
Borough President Scott Stringer
Council Member Jessica Lappin
Council Member Dan Garodnick
