VOTE FOR YETTA KURLAND!

Dear Lucas,

yetta_kurland_headshot_nyreblog_com_.jpgThere is a lot happening in these next couple of days and I just wanted to give you a rundown on some of the important events.

First, it seems I have been put on the ballot for  September 13th as a judicial delegate. I hope you are planning to vote this upcoming Tuesday September 13th and when you do so, I hope you will consider casting your vote for me as a judicial delegate.

While you are at it, if you live in Lower Manhattan I hope you will also vote for district leader candidates John Scott, Paul Newell and Jennifer Rajkumar. They are all progressive community activists who have worked side by side with me and many important issues. I am also supporting Tony Cannataro for civil court judge and hope you will as well. I will also try to send more detailed information about these candidates in the near future.

Next, at 1pm on Sunday September 11th I hope you will join me Jane K., Patti L. and others to gather petitions for the Coalition for a New Village Hospital to call for a formal investigation for the New York State Assembly's Health Committee on the closure of St. Vincent's. We will meet outside Tea and Sympathy on Greenwhich Street between 7th Ave and 8th Ave.

Finally, as some may have observed, on Saturday August 29th, in advance of Hurricane Irene, a group of concerned Greenwich Village residents, fearing record winds, took down and secured Tiles for America, which has been a memorial- in -progress at the corner of Greenwich Avenue and 7th Avenue for the past 10 years. Last Saturday folks started putting the tiles back up. Please stop by over the weekend and contribute something and learn more about these efforts by going to the Facebook page or emailing Dusty at dusty@theberkes.com .

Thank you and hope to see you around this weekend.

In remembrance and solidarity,
Yetta Kurland
