STOP MONKEYING AROUND

animal_rights_foundation_florida_logo_nyreblog_com_.gifTell Congress to Stop the Army's Cruel Use of Monkeys

We need your help to end the cruel and unnecessary use of monkeys in military chemical warfare training. ARFF's friends at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine have learned that the U.S. Army is scheduled to receive 20 vervet monkeys from a Miami-based company in the coming weeks. The monkeys will be used in a chemical casualty management course at the U.S. Army's Aberdeen Proving Ground. Please tell your members of Congress to act quickly to stop this.

A shocking training video and veterinary records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act clearly show that these chemical casualty management courses are cruel.

The training is supposed to illustrate injuries from chemical weapons for military medical personnel. In reality, this exercise is cruel, clinically irrelevant, and ineffective compared to modern, nonanimal training methods.

The next chemical casualty management course is scheduled for the week of September 12th and the 32 monkeys held at Aberdeen for this training need your help. Additionally, 20 more monkeys are slated to be delivered to Aberdeen in the coming weeks by Miami-based Worldwide Primates.
