Dear Lucas,
It's on. Yesterday, consumer advocate and champion for American working families, Elizabeth Warren, made her campaign for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts official.
She's in, and we're in with her! Now we need to make sure she has the resources to win.
Republicans have been quaking in their boots since Elizabeth was first mentioned as the candidate to beat Tea Party sweetheart Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown. And for good reason -- a new poll shows Elizabeth rapidly closing in on Brown. But the GOP wasted no time using her candidacy to rekindle that Tea Party ire -- and raise boatloads of cash -- to save Scott Brown.
Since being the first person swept into office with the help of the Tea Party, Scott Brown has tried to disguise himself as a moderate -- but his record is as right-wing as they come. He once sponsored legislation allowing medical professionals to refuse emergency contraception to rape victims. He's sided with corporate polluters and billionaires against the working families Elizabeth has fought to protect.
In sharp contrast, Elizabeth stood up to big banks and credit card companies and spearheaded a new government team to protect families from consumer fraud and abuse. As a life-long champion of the middle class -- she's the daughter of a janitor and a working mother herself -- we need her voice in the United States Senate fighting for all of us.
There is so much at stake in this race for Massachusetts and our nation -- Elizabeth herself predicts "the biggest fight of our lifetimes." With our fragile Democratic Senate majority hanging in the balance -- and Brown's team readying an anti-Elizabeth attack website as we speak -- Elizabeth needs your help today.
Over 40,000 members of the EMILY's List community already voiced their support for Elizabeth's campaign, and I know you will come through again.
Thank you for all you are doing to help candidates like Elizabeth move our country forward.
Take care,
Stephanie Schriock
