SCOTT'S TRANSPORTATION BLUEPRINT

Dear Friend:

Five years ago my office convened Manhattan on the Move: A Transportation Agenda for a Growing City.  This Conference was a first of its kind gathering of New York City's leading transportation thought leaders to discuss New York's biggest challenges and identify solutions ambitious enough to match them.  Several innovative ideas that emerged have since come to fruition and changed the way that our City moves.

Since then, many new challenges have come to light.  A widening MTA budget gap has prompted three fare increases and reductions to service delivery, outdated infrastructure continues to deteriorate without long-term plans on the federal, state and local levels to finance its reconstruction and communities have been polarized over street redesign issues.

For these reasons, I believe that it is time to reconvene once again to chart a future for New York City's transportation that enhances our economy, safety and environment.  On November 18th my office will convene Transportation 2030: A Five Borough Blueprint .  This conference will bring together thought leaders and experts to examine transportation challenges across the five boroughs, address long standing transportation debates and identify ambitious solutions that will enhance the economy, safety and accessibility of Metropolitan New York. The Conference will also highlight new innovations in transportation technology that promise to make our transit system more efficient and eco-friendly.  For more information and to pre-register click here .

I hope you will join me November 18th as we work to create a transportation agenda that works for all five boroughs.

Sincerely,

Scott M. Stringer
Manhattan Borough President
