NYCLA's Pro Bono Department is offering trainings for two pro bono projects in October:
Project Restore is a unique pro bono program as it provides counsel to individuals with misdemeanor or felony convictions who have been denied vocational licenses by the New York Department of State. Two CLE credits (1 Professional Practice and 1 Skills) will be awarded to those attending the training session.
To participate, you must be admitted to the New York bar for at least one year and be a NYCLA member.
Manhattan CLARO (Civil Legal Advice and Resource Office) provides advice-only assistance to pro se litigants, who have a pressing need for legal assistance on a host of consumer debt issues. Assistance is provided to these litigants on Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 PM in the New York County Civil Court at 111 Centre Street. Three CLE credits (1.5 Professional Practice and 1.5 Skills) will be awarded to those attending the training sessions contingent on volunteers completing six hours of service (i.e., three, two-hour CLARO sessions.)
To participate, you must be admitted to the New York bar for at least one year and be a NYCLA member or a Fordham Law School alumnus.
